In Big Sur, weddings don’t simply take place; they unfold like a quiet secret between earth and ocean. As Britta Photography, capturing weddings along the California coast, I walked the shoreline with camera in hand, waves rolling in like soft applause at our feet and salt mist brushing our skin like nature’s blessing.
We gathered on a secluded stretch of sand, tucked beneath ancient cliffs and surrounded by the rhythm of the Pacific—a hidden sanctuary that felt made for an intimate California beach wedding. Their vows lifted into the wind, carried off like prayers, echoing softly against the stone and sea.
When the ceremony ended, guests released rose petals—petals rising into the silver sky in bursts of color—celebrating their love in a way that mirrored the quiet beauty of the coastline. It’s moments like these that remind me why I adore photographing coastal elopements in Big Sur.
Overcast days like this create the perfect light: gentle, diffused, and wrapped around every detail like silk—soft, even, and effortless—ideal for documenting a love story written against the horizon.
If you’re dreaming of a small, intimate beach wedding in Big Sur, this coastline has a way of slowing time, letting love feel close enough to touch, and turning every frame into a love letter to the sea.
